Foram professores eminentes artistas plásticos das vanguardas russas como Ivan Bilibin (Jean Bilibine, 1876-1942), Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947) e Leonid Sherved (v. Estúdio de Mikhail Bernshtein e Leonid Sherved, onde os artistas lecionaram c. 1908-1911). Lecionaram no Instituto Estatal de Arte de Kiev, Gregory Dyashenko, Ivan Semenovich Makushenko (1867-1955), Nikolay Pimonenko (1862-1912) e Kazimir Malevich (1878-1935), entre outros como Vladimir Tatlin (1885-1953), que lecionou em 1925-1927. Foram alunos do Instituto Estatal de Arte de Kiev Alexander Osmerkin (1892-1953), Aleksandra Ekster (1894-1954); e Gregory Alexander Volkov (1886-1957), pintor das vanguardas ucranianas residente no Uzbequistão, homenageado com a individual Alexander Volkov: Exposição de Areia e Seda, na Christie’s (Londres, 04-21 de setembro, 2012).
